Read-a-thon: Hour Zero
Well, blech. It never fails. The only times I know I really need to get a good night’s sleep – the night before an exam, presentation, early flight, read-a-thon, etc., are the nights when I get insomnia the worst. I was up until about 3 last night, and slept fitfully the rest of the time, so I’m going into the read-a-thon with about 4 1/2 hours of sleep. There goes any chance I had of making it without a nap (or much past 1 or 2 a.m.)! Tip for next time: dose myself up on Nyquil or something the night before.
Anyways, to keep track of my stats, I’m starting off in the middle of two books:
The Lost Diary of Don Juan by Douglas Carlton Abrams – page 188
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (re-read) by J. K. Rowling – page 322
I was too busy last night playing Samba de Amigo on a friend’s Wii to prepare this in advance, but… If you keep track of what page you’re on in each book at each hour break, I will put together a spreadsheet to make pretty graphs of your reading progress. Because I really am just that nerdy.
Let’s get cracking.
I didn’t get much sleep, either. :) Happy reading!
3:00?? Oh no! It took an act of congress for me to get OUT of bed this morning but I’m up. My body kept screaming…but it’s Saturday!
Have a great time!
I normally do that too but I did manage to get to sleep before midnight for once!
Oh no, a lack of sleep is no good. Good luck and have fun!
Hope you’re able to get a lot of good reading in in spite of your sleep deprivation.
Have fun! Stay seated (don’t lie down) or walk around the house reading for a while to keep awake!
Bummer about the insomnia, but good for you for still getting up early!
Nicki! How did I not know that you were reading! I didn’t check my Google Reader Saturday, instead just kept on the posts at Dewey’s site and clicked through here and there. Uggghhh. I feel TERRIBLE that I didn’t cheer you on.
How frustrating about the sleep thing. I’m the EXACT same way. Sometimes I take a Benadryl but then I always feel hung over the next morning. Not good if you’re trying to read.
