November 2016 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

December 4, 2016

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started November with 211 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …212! November was supposed to be a month for me to catch up on my reading. And it’s not that I didn’t read anything, but most of what I read was the news and political commentary post-election, and then I really wanted the familiar comforts of old favorites. So… yeah. November was a wash for me. Here’s hoping for December!

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Read But Not Owned (Books)
Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye (review coming soon)

Re-Reads
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling
Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (review coming soon)

Changes to the TBR pile

Added to my TBR pile (all-around shame!)
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

Added to my eTBR pile (non-storage-space-related shame!)
Yes Please by Amy Poehler * Pursuant to the discussion on this post, I’ve decided to create an eTBR pile for e-books and audiobooks that I accept for review or for which I actually pay money. I’m not adding them into my total TBR numbers, but I have to fess up about them somewhere. Keeps me honest.

“And it’s not that I didn’t read anything, but most of what I read was the news and political commentary post-election, and then I really wanted the familiar comforts of old favorites.”

I totally get this. Concentrating on books (or work, or anything else…) has been extra difficult this month, because every time you turn on the radio or pull or Twitter or whatever it’s just another WTF thing to throw you through a loop.

Anyway, I also really want to read ‘The Bell Jar’ — so many people seem to love it! I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of it (eventually, haha).

November seems like it was a slump month for lots of people. Hope December goes better!
