August 2016 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

September 2, 2016

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started August with 202 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …202! August was a busy month, trying to get things up and running for the start of the new semester, but I managed to get a decent amount of reading (even if no reviewing) done.

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

The Moor by Laurie R. King (review coming soon)

Read But Not Owned (Graphic Novels)
Saga, Vol. 6 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
Sex Criminals Vol. 3: Three the Hard Way by Matt Fraction & Chip Zdarsky
(reviews coming soon)

Winter’s Heart by Robert Jordan
Austenland by Shannon Hale
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman

Changes to the TBR pile

Read from my TBR pile (huzzah!)
Summer Days and Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories by Stephanie Perkins
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (reviews coming soon)

Added and then read (um… huzzah?)
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I & II by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne (review coming soon)

Other removals from the TBR pile (um… huzzah?)
The Virtu by Sarah Monette (I tried, I really did, but I was just not into it, so it’s a DNF. Didn’t even get far enough to write a DNF review.)

Added to my TBR pile (all-around shame!)
The Bookman’s Tale by Charles Lovett Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
Non-TBR acquisitions (storage-space-related shame!)
Cress by Marissa Meyer Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
1001 Recipes by Martha Day
Added to my eTBR pile (non-storage-space-related shame!)
As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of the Princess Bride by Cary Elwes The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks
* Pursuant to the discussion on this post, I’ve decided to create an eTBR pile for e-books and audiobooks that I accept for review or for which I actually pay money. I’m not adding them into my total TBR numbers, but I have to fess up about them somewhere. Keeps me honest.

I am curious about Sarah Monette, but have never tried her. One day!

Oh I didn’t know Saga volume 6 was out – just placed a hold at my library. I love that series so much!

I want to read your new to eTBR picks. Congrats on a great month.

How lucky that you’ve read the sixth volume of Saga already. We’ve got a couple of shared TBRs (the Princess Bride collection and the Marissa Meyers (which everyone seems to love), and my numbers never change much either!
