November 2015 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started October with 253 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …226! It’s been a pretty good month, reading wise; I finished several books (many of them at a quick can’t-sleep-till-I-finish pace), but then got bogged down this past week between hosting for the holidays and a book that I wasn’t really into enough to want to make time for it (and eventually wound up DNFing it). Still, I also finally took in one of the boxes of books that I’ve been meaning to donate since early October… another big box still to go! I’ll get those TBR numbers back down one way or another! I was terrible about reviewing this month, and by now my backlog is pretty damn daunting, so this month I might be writing mini-reviews for the books that I finished months ago, just as a way to get myself caught up, or at least closer to it.

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Audiobooks – Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch – Newt’s Emerald: Magic, Maids, and Masquerades by Garth Nix
Read But Not Owned (Books) – Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

Changes to the TBR pile

Read from my TBR pile (huzzah!) – Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances by Neil Gaiman – The Wicked and the Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act by Kieron Gillen – Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand
Other removals from the TBR pile (um… huzzah?) – After Alice by Gregory Maguire (DNFed) I also got rid of a bunch of TBR books that I couldn’t remember why I picked them up in the first place. I’m not going to list all of them here, but there were 26 of them. Good job me!

– Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews	* Pursuant to the discussion on this post, I’ve decided to create an eTBR pile for e-books and audiobooks that I accept for review or for which I actually pay money. I’m not adding them into my total TBR numbers, but I have to fess up about them somewhere. Keeps me honest.
