May 2015 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

June 1, 2015

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started May with 259 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …254! Hooray, I got to read! I spent this month polishing up books that have been partially finished for a long time (January, in some cases), and reading more! Not so much reviewing… I’m way behind, and will have to have a day or two to sit down and churn some of those out. (They’re also probably going to be pretty short, since I don’t remember a ton of details on stuff that I read more than a few months ago, but we’ll make do.) But I got to read! Books! For fun! Crazy talk.

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Audiobooks
The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons

E-Books
The Woodcutter by Kate Danley*

Re-Reads
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams

Changes to the TBR pile

Read from my TBR pile (huzzah!)
The Voyage of the Narwhal by Andrea Barrett
A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
The Woman Who Would Be King: Hatshepsut’s Rise to Power in Ancient Egypt by Kara Cooney
The Pierced Heart by Lynn Shephard
The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh
The Sasquatch Hunter’s Almanac by Sharma Shields
Finding Zero: A Mathematician’s Odyssey to Uncover the Origins of Numbers by Amir D. Aczel

Added to my TBR pile (all-around shame!)
Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout In a French Kitchen: Tales and Traditions of Everyday Home Cooking in France by Susan Herrmann Loomis
Rain: A Natural and Cultural History by Cynthia Barnett

Non-TBR acquisitions (storage-space-related shame!)
The Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman

Added to my eTBR pile (non-storage-space-related shame!)
The Human Division (audio) by John Scalzi * Pursuant to the discussion on this post, I’ve decided to create an eTBR pile for e-books and audiobooks for which I actually pay money. I’m not adding them into my total TBR numbers, but I have to fess up about them somewhere. Keeps me honest.

Well, it looks like your stacks went down overall, and that’s good.
