October 2013 Monthly Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

November 4, 2013

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started October with 245 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …258! Well, damn, that’s embarassing. I may have gone a leeeeetle bit overboard at the library booksale, especially considering that I didn’t get much (only one!) read off the TBR pile. Not much read in general, and even fewer reviewed. I’ll get back on the horse this month.

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation by Michael Pollan

Read But Not Owned (Books)
Boston Jacky: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, Taking Care of Business by L. A. Meyer
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson

Read But Not Owned (Graphic Novels)
The Eternal Smile by Gene Luen Yang and Derek Kirk Kim
Goodbye, Chunky Rice by Craig Thompson

The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson*

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling
Mirror Dance by Lois McMaster Bujold

Changes to the TBR pile

Read from my TBR pile (huzzah!)
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Added and then read (um… huzzah?)
Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton

Added to my TBR pile (all-around shame!)
The Sweet Life in Paris: Delicious Adventures in the World’s Most Glorious – and Perplexing – City by David Lebovitz A Confederation of Valor by Tanya Huff (Meghan’s fault)
Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise by Ruth Reichl The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi
Cod: A Biography of the Fish that Changed the World by Mark Kurlansky Shipbreaker by Paolo Bacigalupi

Yay, A Confederation of Valor! I hope you love it. And then all the rest of the books in the series. :D

Also, really interested to see what you think of The Windup Girl. It’s on my wishlist.
