May 2013 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

June 3, 2013

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started May with 247 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …244! Hooray! As I was hoping when it started, May was a good month for me. Spring semester over, minimal responsibilities, time in the car listening to audiobooks, and a chance to get some solid reading done. I did a little bit of damage at a library booksale, but read enough from my own pile that I still managed to put a -3 dent in my TBR numbers. Let’s hope I can keep up a similar pace in June!

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Audiobooks
River of Stars by Guy Gavriel Kay
American Savage: Insights, Slights, and Fights on Faith, Sex, Love, and Politics by Dan Savage

Read But Not Owned (Graphic Novels)
Amulet, Vol. 5: Prince of the Elves by Kazu Kibuishi
Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

Re-Reads
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
Cetaganda by Lois McMaster Bujold

Changes to the TBR pile

Read from my TBR pile (huzzah!)
The Drunken Botanist: The Plants That Create the World’s Great Drinks by Amy Stewart
Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
Unnatural Creatures edited by Neil Gaiman
Snapper by Brian Kimberling
Not in Our Classrooms: Why Intelligent Design is Wrong for Our Schools edited by Eugenie C. Scott
Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip – Confessions of a Cynical Waiter by Steve Dublanica

Added to my TBR pile (all-around shame!)
The Tragedy of Arthur by Arthur Phillips Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dolamore
Firebirds Rising edited by Sharyn November Firebirds Soaring edited by Sharyn November (Ana’s fault! – so she gets indirect blame/credit for the other one, too.)

Added to my eTBR pile (non-storage-space-related shame!)
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller * Pursuant to the discussion on this post, I’ve decided to create an eTBR pile for e-books for which I actually pay money. I’m not adding them into my total TBR numbers, but I have to fess up about them somewhere. Keeps me honest.
