May 2011 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews

June 1, 2011

Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update

I started May with 267 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* …276! Well, I just undid all of the good work I did in April by read-a-thon-ing and not acquiring anything. But there’s so many good books coming out that I just couldn’t say no to! I’m only human!

…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Audiobooks
How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell
Memory by Lois McMaster Bujold
Komarr by Lois McMaster Bujold
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

Read but not owned
Fables, Vol. 15: Rose Red by Bill Willingham
Jack of Fables, Vol. 8: The Fulminate Blade by Bill Willingham

E-Books
The Princess and Curdie by George MacDonald
The Fiddler’s Gun by A. S. Peterson

Re-reads
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

Changes to the TBR pile

Read from my TBR pile (huzzah!)
Old Man’s War by John Scalzi
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Joy for Beginners by Erica Bauermeister

Acquired and then Read (semi-huzzah!)
The River Kings’ Road by Liane Merciel
Indigo: In Search of the Color that Seduced the World by Catherine E. McKinley
The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong

Other removals from my TBR pile (um… huzzah?)
The Ill-Made Mute by Cecelia Dart-Thornton (I got about 100 pages in back in April before I set it aside for later, but if I’m being honest, I’m never going to go back to it. DNFed!)

Added to my TBR pile (shame!)
Wild Cards, Volume 1 by George R. R. Martin Heaven’s Needle by Liane Merciel

Fire Watch by Connie Willis

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Oooh, lots of great books you added on your TBR pile!
It’s so hard to see the piles not moving – even worse, getting bigger! Like you I’m filled with great intentions, but I find that it’s not often the numbers go down. Plus, the ereader makes it easy to forget that I have, in fact, way more books to read than I can see *gulp*

Kay – Oh, I don’t even count my Kindle books unless I pay for them (rare) – my TBR numbers would be off the charts if I counted all of the freebies I’ve downloaded!
