Sunday Salon: Read-a-thon Wrap-Up
I’m sure everyone has heard (once or twice) by now that yesterday was the read-a-thon. This was my third time participating, and I had just as much fun as ever. I didn’t get quite as much reading done as I have in the past; I had a costume birthday party to go to that – while a ton of fun – did mean that I was only home and reading for about 15 hours or so. Of that time, I was either reading or listening for about 12 hours and 20 minutes. Overall, I found it a lot more easy to stay focused for more of each hour than I had – no idea why.
I started and finished three books: And Another Thing… by Eoin Colfer, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster by Bobby Henderson, and Ship Fever by Andrea Barrett. I also got more than half-way through Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris (I finished it this afternoon), and did a little bit of browsing through Where the Hell is Matt?: Dancing Badly about the World by Matt Harding, for a grand total of 950 pages.
Today, all I have really been in the mood to do was lay on the couch and watch videos… but instead I’ve spent the day grading papers… and procrastinating while trying to avoid grading papers. Ah well.
Many thanks again to everybody who stopped by to cheer me on, and everyone who participated in my mini-challenge! I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did, and I’m already looking forward to April!
I am glad you had such a great time with the read-a-thon. Considering all you had going on, you did an amazing job. Maybe one of these seasons, I’ll get to give it a go. :-) Have a great week!
Congratulations on finishing! I am so impressed with everyone who stuck with it for more than half the day. And finishing four books is quite amazing as well. I’m glad you had fun! Maybe I can participate in the one in April.
You had a great read-a-thon! The party was probably a nice break in the day for you.
Sounds like you had a successful readathon! I ended up reading a second book right after the thon was over and then crashed for 12 hrs :)
Maybe it’s because you knew you’d be gone to the party and thus, to read as much as possible, every hour mattered more that helped you be more concentrated? *guessing*
Glad to hear you had fun, though! ^-^ Congratulations on the books you finished!
Eh, you just reminded me that I should be grading papers. It is just such a pain isn’t it? I love teaching, but sometimes I wish I had majored in math or science or any subject sans papers. Good luck gradings yours!
Wow, grading papers after the read-a-thon – bummer! All I wanted to do was sit around and watch tv too.
Congrats on the Read-a-Thon! It’s been fun to randomly hop around and read all the posts afterwards; it seems like everyone had a great time.
sounds like you had a great time. until next time!
all thru the R-a-T, I kept telling myself ‘go visit Fyrefly and cheer her on’ but I never obeyed that little voice -I really have no excuses! I can’t believe how many people I feel I missed. anyway, hope you had a great read-a-ton and BIG CHEER to you so you’ll be motivated to review those books (and grade papers) :)
Congrats! I did a lot of reading but didn’t finish a single book. It was still fun, though. ;)
