TSS: August Wrap-Up: Commenters & Search Terms

September 6, 2009

The Sunday Salon.com First off, I want to say thanks to everyone for being patient throughout August as I’ve been largely absent – slow about posting (I still have a backlog of six reviews to write, ugh!), bad about replying to comments, and HORRIBLE about keeping up with all of your blogs. The good news is that while the semester has started and thus I’m going to continue to be quite busy, I’m at least settling into a routine that gives me some free time (and energy!) for blogging.

Search Terms

is the sandman graphic novel okay for children
No. Sweet Jesus Haploid Christ, NO. Among the myriad reasons why not, I think the Corinthian would traumatize a kid for life. Heck, he pretty much traumatized me for life, and I’m nowhere near a kid.

where can i put my books
On bookcases, on night stands, on dining room tables, on coffee tables, in piles on the floor, in boxes, under your bed, in your purse, in the bathroom, in your car, send them to my house…. plenty of options!

costa rican panqueques recipes
Ah, the bread-what-whats. All of the panqueques I had in Costa Rica were regular pancakes, but my copy of Costa Rican Typical Foods (which I got at the airport for $2) has the following recipe for Chorreadas, which are sweet corn pancakes and are really good with vanilla yogurt:

Combine 2 c. corn kernels, 1/2 c. sugar, 1/4 c. flour, 2 eggs, 2 T butter, 1/2 c. milk, and 1/2 t. vanilla in a blender until mixed but still lumpy. Fry pancakes in butter or oil. Serve hot and top with cream cheese or sour cream (or vanilla yogurt, as I said.)

fyrefly beer
Eh, no thanks. I’ll have a cocktail if you’re mixing one, though.

d words that describe destruction
All I’m coming up with is demolish, and de-nihalate, which isn’t even a word. Help me out, readers!

nun whores
Okay. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that this was you searching for this term (It was, wasn’t it?! Don’t lie!) Type that into Google. Go on, I’ll wait.

Okay, so, can anyone tell me why on earth the searcher would click on the second result (which is me, and a book review), rather than the clearly much more relevant first result?

but booty
Kinda redundant, eh?

unholy blogs
Really? I’d say at worst I’m just mildly blasphemous. If I were going to get really unholy, I’d probably have to change my color scheme, and I’m kind of fond of the blue.

Your search term posts are the best! It sounds like there might be a Firefly Beer, in which case you might want to stock up and give them out instead of business cards!

rhapsody – Ah, good call. There is a Firefly beer, but sadly, it’s an Australian microbrew. If I ever get to visit the other side of the world, I’ll stock up!

Unholy blogs!!! Sounds like something Robin would say to Batman when his browser crashes.

    • September 8, 2009 8:44 am

C.B. – Hee hee! Just to let you know, I’ve been walking around for the past two days going “Unholy _________, Batman!” to myself and then giggling.

I hope things settle down for you soon! You always get awesome search terms. Mine are boring in comparison!

That last search term made me snerk. You always get such fun ones. (And just plain WTH ones, obviously.)

I hope things settle down for you soon! Uni’ll start up next week for me, so I expect I’ll be in similar straights soon enough.

Love the search terms. How do you find them? Unholy blogs? I know there is a site where you can find out how evil your blog is, if I could only find it!

    Have a good week!

I’m afraid to look up nun whores, but like everyone else . . . I have to say you have the funniest search terms on the planet. Mine are almost all book titles. How dull is that?

    • September 8, 2009 8:54 am

Bookfool – These are just the occasional gem gleaned from the vast, vast majority of boring title/author searches.

  9. September 6, 2009 8:22 pm

    Interesting search terms!
I’ve not tried it before so I’d like to do mine one of these days… :P

  10. September 6, 2009 10:14 pm

I’m jealous! My search terms are so dry. . .Unholy blogs? That’s flattery in reverse lol!

    Thanks for the link, btw.

  11. September 7, 2009 4:04 pm

I never get such interesting search terms. Totally jealous now.

  12. September 8, 2009 12:47 am

I love your search term responses every month. You crack me up! Just wanted to let you know. :-)

  13. September 8, 2009 10:54 am

Your “search terms” always crack me up! And the answers you give back make it even better! :D

  14. September 9, 2009 5:36 pm

I just wish I had your search terms. I am getting a lot of people searching for werewolf sex.
