Sunday Salon: Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up
Happy Sunday, everyone! (Or at least everyone who’s not currently still sleeping off the read-a-thon!) I couldn’t make it the whole 24 hours, giving up a little before three. I probably could have pushed for longer, but weighing my need to be functional this week against an extra five hours of bleary-eyed reading just wasn’t worth it. I had a fantastic time, though – many thanks to the three lovely ladies who organized it!
I managed to finish 4 books, make some progress on two more, (grand total of 1335 pages!) and listen to about two hours of my audiobook. Overall, I spent almost exactly 14 hours (of the 19 hours I was up) consuming some kind of book. I also managed to get myself back on pace for my goal-for-the-year, which I’d fallen behind in the past month or so. (I know this because of my reading tracking spreadsheet, which you can download for yourself here.)
Finished: (and cleared from the TBR pile!)
– Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley (I’d started this on Thursday, so I didn’t read this one cover-to-cover during the R-a-T.)
– The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
– Darkwood by M. E. Breen
– California Demon by Julie Kenner
Read in part:
– The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (my current meal-time piece-meal re-read.)
– The Book of Ballads by Charles Vess et. al. (I think I made it through the introduction and the first three? Four? Shouldn’t take me that long to finish, in any case.)
Listened in part:
– Apologize, Apologize! by Elizabeth Kelly
Many thanks to everyone who stopped by yesterday to cheer me on! Comments are always loved, but never more so than during read-a-thon!
Today? I should be starting to write reviews for all of yesterday’s books, but… we’ll see. I think today will mostly be spent vegetating in front of the DVD player, probably making a trip to the library this afternoon, and maybe finishing up The Book of Ballads. And going to bed early. :)
Hope your Sunday is equally relaxing!
Great job! The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy are really great; I can’t wait to read what you thought of the others. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)
Awesome job! I slept a little during the read-a-thon too! I didn’t want to be a total zombie today and get off track on my sleep schedule! I’ve been doing so good getting enough sleep the last couple weeks!
You did an awesome job! 1335 pages is pretty impressive. I don’t think I even made it to a thousand, and graphic novels made up the bulk of yesterday’s reading.
Great job! I’m also intimidated by writing reviews for all the books I finished. It’s going to take a while!
The read-a-thon was a huge success. I know Dewey’s proud.
Ooh! That’s a fantastic job you did! You go and relax/enjoy yourself and not worry about reviews overmuch, me dear!
Wow! I’m impressed. You did a great job. Rest easy today. :)
See, if I did actually read some year, I would probably have to read only TBR pile books because that would make any book I read that much closer to getting the pile under control! lol Congrats on finishing so many!
You really did great! Congrats!
Happy Sunday!
You did great! Congratulations! I look forward to your reviews of all of those.
Yay you! Congrats! I vote for that vegetate option for you today. Hope your Readathon experience was everything you hoped. Maybe next time for me. Today I am reading Unaccustomed Earth. Happy reading!
Well done on doing so well in the readathon. You must be so pleased with how much you read.
Great job on the readathon! I can’t wait for the next one so I can participate too. Last year I read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and it ended up being my 42nd book of the year. Completely unintentional but very neat nonetheless.
that’s an impressive list. I read only one book at 301 pages…I hope that’s good for a first time read-a-thoner!
You did great!
Great job! I couldn’t stay up for the whole thing either, and I only finished 2 books.
Okay, I can’t wait to hear about California Demon. That is a great title!
you did great! how was California Demon? Carpe Demon is one of my favorites, and I read the third in the series, but skipped the second.
Great job with the reading!! I read the most pages out of any other time I participated but my time was really awful. I guess that means I was reading easier books? :) It was a blast, huh?
Fantastic job with the reading! And thanks so much for visiting me during the read-a-thon :) Looking forward to hearing what you think of Frankie Landau-Banks.
