Sunday Salon – Not really here edition

March 15, 2009

The Sunday Salon.comSo I’ve been gone for a few days, and will be gone for a few more. Between birthday festivities, work stuff, and the start of spring break (which I am spending in sunny tropical Chicago), I have not got much reading or posting done… and probably won’t for another few days, at least. But there are some reviews I have to write (eventually), and I may get at least a short book read. See you later this week!

Oh, I also finally got myself on Ravelry. (Also, OMG, it’s such another time-suck for compulsive organizers like me… it’s like LibraryThing for knitting! Why did no one force me onto this site before?) I’ve got most of my projects loaded, but I’m sure I’m nowhere near using it to its full potential. Any suggestions?

This week got in the way of my blogging, too. I’ve been meaning to respond to your email forever, too. I will this – cross my heart.

Have a good time in Chicago. I have some wonderful memories of Spring Break in Chi Town. It’s a wonderful city.

I love Ravelry! I’m no where near figuring it all out either though.

Enjoy Chicago. It’s one of my favorite cities!

Yay, have fun this week up here in Chicago. Maybe if for some random reason you happen to be in the Albany Park neighborhood some day this week we could do lunch.

A friend convinced me to join Ravelry a year or so back, but I have yet to do anything with it. I’ve really got to start. I love all the stuff you can do with the site.

I joined Ravelry when I first started knitting, but I haven’t done enough knitting to really take advantage of it. It’s a fun site to surf, though!

Literate Housewife – No worries, whenever you get a chance to get back to me is fine.

    Matthew – Mine too!

DoB – I’m here with friends this week, but if I come back over the summer, then we should definitely get together!

    Nymeth – Thanks, will do!

Memory – I got really entranced by adding all of my projects, and am now anxious to get home so I can take pictures of my current works-in-progress.

Eva – I can see how dangerous a place it could be… I’m already like “I want to knit that… and that… ooh, and that…”

Isn’t Ravelry amazing? I’ve alway thought of it as Librarything for knitters too. And like Librarything it’s not only a way to get organized, but it’s a wonderful resource as well — for finding patterns, seeing how people have modified patterns, and seeing what can be done with different yarns. Now I can’t imagine starting any project without looking into it on Ravelry first. (I’m knittinglaura there, btw.)
