Sunday Salon: This week in work (and books)

March 8, 2009

The Sunday Salon.comAnother Sunday, although if you live in the non-Arizona U.S., it’s only 95% of a another Sunday. Stupid daylight savings time… I’ve had it both ways, and I have to say, I much prefer not having to shift the clocks.

Anyhow, I’ve been dead busy this week trying to get my act together for a presentation I have to give next week, but I’ve managed to get some little reading and bloggy stuff done:

– Wrap-ups of February in terms of books read and acquired and blog stuff, including search terms.

– An interview with David Grann, author of the newly-published book The Lost City of Z

– Reviews of two books, both of which I really enjoyed: The Sound of Building Coffins by Louis Maistros, and Shadowbridge by Gregory Frost

I also gave the Book Blogs Search Engine, which I mentioned last Sunday, its own page, where you can see all of the included sites (we’re up to 372, thanks to a major boost from Callista at SMS Book Reviews).

Oh, and I also finished two books for which I need to write reviews: Starfinder by John Marco, and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. Look for those soon(ish).

….And now it’s back to work. No rest for the weary. (Or for the graduate students, which is much the same thing.)

Does anyone really like Daylight Savings Time? And, if not, why do we continue to flip back and forth the way we do?

Thanks for doing such a great job with the search engine. I went through my blogroll and noted the ones that were missing…off to e-mail you the list.

Also, I look forward to your review of Starfinder.

I want my hour back, too! Off to check out your recent reviews.

I don’t like Daylight Savings Time either. It’ll take me a week to get used to it.

Debbie – I wouldn’t think so, but I do know that Indiana recently voted to adopt it, so *some* people must like it.

Nymeth – I’ll get those added either tonight or tomorrow; thank you!

Writer Person – It would have been worse if I’d had an actual schedule to follow today instead of just one hour less to get everything done.
