July 2010 Wrap-Up: Books and Reviews
Ye Grande Olde TBR(e) Challenge Update
I started July with 269 unread books sitting around my house. And I ended with … *drumroll* … 268! I would just like to point out that that is two months in a row that I have put up negative numbers. That’s just crazy talk!
…anyways, let’s take a look at the breakdown:
Neutral books – Read, but don’t affect the TBR pile

Stick with the huzzah! Ignore the shame! :)
Trisha – I like that attitude! Huzzah!
The ones you added to the TBR were worth it. I really like Patricia C. Wrede. Also, reading Zoe’s Tale introduced me to Scalzi’s work. I added and read all three of the other books in that series when I discovered him.
I just checked and it appears I added 30 books to my TBR stack. I feel so guilty! I think the only way I am going to reduce my TBR stack is to go through it and donate the books that I don’t think I will ever get to. Here is my Monthly Report. Happy reading!
Kathy – I’ve done a couple of big TBR purges to the tune of 20-30 books each, but somehow it always seems to fill back up again!
Even though you only decreased your pile by 1, I am totally impressed! Go you!
bermudaonion – Wooo!! Victory lap!
Your TBR additions this month are amazing though! I love John Scalzi, just read and really liked The Magicians and Mrs Quent, and enjoyed Blindspot back when it came out. So even though they’ve added to your numbers, they’re totally worthy additions to your reading life. =)
Meghan – Well, I always think the books I add are going to be good (or else I wouldn’t add them), but it’s nice to have confirmation!
Oh, Daughter of Witches! Wow, that takes me back. There was a time in my life when I thought that was the edgiest darkest book in all the land. I think I was ten…?
Jenny – I’m jealous! I lovedlovedloved the Enchanted Forest Chronicles when I was younger, but have only recently realized that Patricia C. Wrede’s got a bunch of other books that I need to read.
Congratulations! Nothing better than negative numbers, and two months in a row. Very impressive :D
amy – What would be better would be *three* months in a row. :) Here’s hoping!
If it makes you feel better I have 325 unread books here…
Ladytink – It does make me feel better to know I’m not alone in my affliction, yes. :)
Congrats to decreasing the size of your TBR pile! Even by 1, it’s an incredible feat. It’s so hard to resist new books!
I’m not counting the total of my TBR pile, but I do count of many books I bring in and how many I read per month – and July was the first in a long time where I read more than I bought! Shameful, I know, but I guess summer was good to us both ;)
kay – So you have negative numbers too! Hooray!
